Our mission is to craft fun, original designs that allow you to show off what you love and what youโre passionate about. With culturally influenced designs from Hawaii and Japan, we seek to craft the kind of sticker designs you will love, be proud to collect, and want to stick on all your things. The smile they bring to your face is a bonus.
The mo'olelo (story)
I love stickers!!!
It all started with the smelly "Scratch-n-Sniff" stickers, the very pressable puffy stickers, then the brand parody "Wacky Packages" stickers collection. Such a wonderful introduction to stickers any kid could have.ย Since adulting for the last 30-plus years, my love for stickersย returned during my first trip back to Japan in 2016 (my first time to Japan was back in 1987).ย After myย Tokyo culture shock of settled down, I really started to take in the lights, the architecture of the buildings, the cars, the trains (I so love the trains!), the people, and the products one could only buy in Japan. It was all almost too overwhelming at times!ย
During my several trips back to Japan since 2016, I found my way around Japan quite easily with the help of Google Maps and the train system.ย Of course, as a sticker lover, I couldn't help butย notice the same sticker brand, B-side Label, inย many of the departmentย stores/boutiques I found myself in.ย I remember seeing a huge display of these stickers in a store, Loft, and just being in awe of the dizzying amount of designs they offered.ย I walked out of that store having spent $80 worth of stickers. Soon after, I found myself at B-Sideโs Harajuku store. As I walked in, I was immediately surrounded by glorious stickers!ย I was again in awe of seeing an even bigger selection of stickers at this store!ย As a sticker lover, time stood still as I went from wall to wall and display to display just admiring all the stickers and wishing I could buy all the stickers!ย Before I knew it, I boughtย over $100 worth of stickers, easily! No regrets! Some were mine and some were omiyage for friends and family back home.ย I rememberย asking myself how can a store that primarily sell stickers make itย in the high rent area of Harajuku?ย I was even more amazed when I discovered they had other stores throughout Japan!ย
After returning home from a Japan trip, I wondered if there were sticker companies around Hawaiโi with a similar mission to B-Side as Iโm always on the lookout for locally-made sticker designs to collect. Even though there are many talented local artists offering their own artย onย stickers, I found no company that offered theย size of B-Side Labelโs catalog. Since we couldnโt find what we were looking for here in Hawaiโi, my friend and I decided to start our very own sticker company, MochiMochi LLC.ย
With MochiMochi being born out of inspiration, we decided to create a local sticker company that reflects our own lives growing up in Hawaiโi, our love for Japan, and the longtime connection between Japan and Hawaiโi.ย ย
We know stickers are not one of lifeโs necessities. MochiMochiโs mission is simply to bring a smile to your face and create a happy moment with each sticker you see. We know this is possible because the process of creating and sharing them brings us to a good place.
